You may think Sea World is a fun, happy place to go visit because they “Save their animals,” but you have got it all wrong. Sure, Sea World is considered great entertainment on the outside, it’s a fun place for kids, families, and learning, but behind closed doors the animals are treated poorly. This article shares the truth of Sea World to further educate readers. Here are 3 reasons why you should not go to Sea World.
1. Keeping animals in small, shallow enclosures:
Sea World has a big problem with the orca enclosures. Relative to the orcas, their enclosure is the size of a bathtub; the enclosures they are meant to live in are supposed to be 100-150 feet long and 20-25 feet deep.
Their orcas are supposed to have a big open space for them to swim in, but they seem not to care about their living space. Instead, the orcas have a small circle enclosure and have to constantly swim in circles. The average size for the sea world orca enclosures are supposed to be at least a minimum depth of 12 feet and a horizontal width of 48 feet.
2. Separates animals from their family
Most of the animals at Sea World have been separated from their loved ones, often causing them to pass away from heart break. Animals need their family just as much as we do. How would you feel if you got ripped apart from your mother and never saw her again?
A former Sea World trainer says when Kalina the orca was separated from her mother, she swam to the other side of the pool and stayed there screaming, screeching, and crying. Orcas need their family because they depend on their mothers for food and care long into adulthood.
3. Causes deaths for animals AND humans
On February 24, 2010, a trainer at Sea World named Dawn Brancheau was performing a show with orca Tilikum and was dragged under the water and was killed by the orca. What caused Tilikum to get so aggressive was because he was extremely stressed by his long term captivity.
As you can see, there are lots of issues with Sea World, so many to the point where it is unacceptable.
Sea World has been treating their wildlife very poorly for many years and the company needs to be stopped. There are many petitions you can sign to stop the business of Sea World
