Life is Strange Has Announced Its TV Show Adaptation

By Scarlett Tarango

One of the most beloved story based games, Life Is Strange, has been announced to be getting a TV show adaptation.

On September 5, 2025, Amazon Prime Video confirmed that yes, Life Is Strange will be getting its very own series and they will be producing it as a Prime exclusive.

British writer Charlie Covell will be in charge of writing and show running the project. “It’s a huge honor to be adapting Life is Strange,” Covell states according to Variety, “I am a massive fan of the game, and I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible teams at Square Enix.” Though many fans are excited about this announcement, many are also anxious about what this will mean in regards to the original game.

Square Enix, publishers of the game, describe the Life is Strange franchise as, “A series of award-winning, third-person narrative adventure games.” In the first game, which the new tv series will be based off of, you play as Max Caufield, who has recently discovered she can time travel. Once Max reunites with her childhood friend, Chloe, the player must solve the mysteries of her school.

Life is Strange is a decision based game that surrounds player interaction. So evidently, adapting the game into a tv show would eliminate this element altogether. Despite many of the decisions in the game leading to similar or the same outcomes, the ending of the game is a little more complicated.

One of the most iconic scenes of the game is the end, where the player must decide to either sacrifice the town of Arcadia Bay, or sacrifice Chloe. This is the only decision that leads to major differences in the story. Based on the game statistics on the Life is Strange wiki, the choice is split with 48% choosing to sacrifice the bay and 52% sacrificing Chloe. No matter which ending is chosen for the show, there is bound to be controversy among fans.

Despite the skepticism of some fans, many more are excited for the new take on Life Is Strange. Lots are fans of some of Covell’s other work and have faith that they will take the series in the right direction.
