English writer, Percy Bysshe Shelley said, “There is a harmony in autumn, and a luster in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!” With this harmony of autumn, dressing comfortably and still fashionable is a must. For the 2025 year fall fashion from 2009 seems to be the way to go.
Gen Z has been taking huge inspiration from Bella Swan (Twilight 2008) and Elena Gilbert (Vampire Diaries 2009), they have been aspiring to achieve the similar type of style as them. So let’s take a look into what clothing items they have been digging through thrift stores to find.
Some of the famous clothing articles are low rise bootcut jeans, fitted long sleeved henleys, babydoll tops, fitted puffer jackets with fluff on the hood, lace camis, and tall UGG boots which is a drastic turn from the lowcut UGGs that were trending a year ago.
Most of the clothing items I named came from stores such as Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch and Aeropostale. The downside of this is that these clothing stores left fall fashion from 2009 in 2009.
Various influencers on social media strongly encouraged stores to bring back this type of fashion, and for a while it seemed like their voices weren’t being heard. That was until July 29th, 2025 Hollister decided to drop their 2000s drop to celebrate their 25th anniversary. This drop included sweaters, henleys, low rise denim mini skirts, fitted long sleeve and short sleeve button ups, fitted lace camis and more to fit for the fall season. This drop made the majority of people feel satisfied.
Another way to achieve buying clothing that has the 2009 look is by thrifting. People have decided to be more eco-friendly. Some people have been thrifting and getting lucky with vintage Hollister or even unknown brands that gave off the perfect Bella Swan vibe. Easiest way to get these 2009 fall fashion pieces is to go through your local thrift store and see what hidden gems they have there. It’s cheap and eco-friendly.
American fashion designer and TV personality, Whitney Port stated, “A lot of fashion is really inspired by vintage and it’s the forefront of fashion.” This statement is proven true because of the fall fashion predictions for this year. So what should be expected to be seen as of fall 2025 is a throwback to fall fashion from 2009.
