The Success of the First Improv Show of 25-26

By Emma Melvin & Matias Brule

On Friday October 24, Benicia’s High School Improv team had their first show of the year, including the 12 new members of the team. This show had a larger audience than usual, as ticket sales practically doubled.

This show consisted of 3 improvising levels, including 9 members of Chomp (the middle school team) as well as the beginning/intermediate and advanced members of B.I.T.E. About 35 improvisers were included in the show combined. This created a comedic show, which left the audience laughing for the entirety of the show.

If you have not attended an improv show by the high school team previously, what should you expect? Lynn Hoyle has been attending these shows for about 10 years and says, “I have attended about 20-25 Benicia High School improv shows in about 10 years. What I enjoy about attending these shows is the humor and the creativity improvers have to think on the spot. I admire the talent. For this show alone, I enjoyed being able to see the different levels of improv skills, and the new games performed.”

These shows are performed about 5 times in a school year, the next ones of this school year being November 21st, January 23, February 20, April 17, and May 22. Support the drama department, and come see a show if you can!
