The holidays can be pretty stressful. Whether you live in Benicia or are visiting during the holidays you’re probably worried about things such as being busy during the holiday season, whether that’s with work, family and friends, relationships, plans, church, decorating, cleaning, hosting, gifts, and so much more. Those can all pile up and stress people out. But we’re lucky to live in Benicia and here are a few reasons why.
One thing is the weather, weather in Benicia is almost always perfect year round no matter what you have going on. Many people have to deal with snow, ice, blizzards and hail. A lot of them would love to live in Benicia where you can usually take a walk without a jacket or hoodie to keep you warm on christmas day. We’re also lucky to have a nice and cozy downtown, a place with many parks and trails where you can take those walks.
Along those walks you’re bound to find a lot of hidden gems that Benicia has to offer. Such as grabbing holiday drinks from One House Bakery which is right next to St. Paul’s Church. Are you looking for easy gifts? Benicia has a lot to offer. For one you can make a homemade gift at Artcentric or sign up for a class at Happy Life Pottery. If you know someone who loves plants a good gift might be a succulent or little cactus from Succulents and More. If someone on your list loves reading or games, Bookshop Benicia and Mozart, Earhart and Me are good places to stop by.
If you’re looking to have a fun night, the tree lighting event is a good option. Many businesses give out cider and sweets, the local bands play music and perform. And if you’re from around here you’re sure to run into people you know. If you’re not, the holidays are for cheer so don’t be lazy, go out and make some friends you bum. The tree lighting this year is Friday December 5 2025. The event usually starts around 5 and goes till night. There’s also a drone show after. Winterfest is also a fun event held at downtown City Park on December 7th 2025 at 11am.
There’s also a lighted boat parade at the Marina on Friday December 12 2025 at 7pm.
If you’re looking for holiday fun, for indoor delight, holiday movies are almost just right, so take my advice, yes take my insight, inside your house, you all sitting down, hot chocolate and cookies, not far out of reach, cram the couches with family and friends fill every seat maybe be so bold as inviting that weird kid Sam down your street. If you have any gift shopping to do, Amazon’s alright they’ll send it to you. Jeff Bezos will stuff your socks with delight, because you’re stuffing his pockets and to him that makes you alright, I’m sure he’s a good dude, but do we really care? Just give us our gifts or remember the last time we cut off your hair.
