Real Trees vs Fake Trees

Over the last couple years, people have been arguing over which trees are better, fake or real Christmas trees.  In my opinion I think you should get a real christmas tree because there is no better feeling getting one and setting it up.

The first tree we’re going to talk about are the real ones. The pros of getting a real tree are that you get the experience of going somewhere with your family, cutting it down or picking a tree that fits your specific standards. Doing this creates memories that you remember and love.

Another pro of getting a Christmas tree are that one christmas tree in its lifetime absorbs 18kg of CO₂  according to Climeworks, so just imagine what  350 million christmas trees can do to help the planet. Another benefit is that with the growing, selling, and recycling of all the Christmas trees creates a lot of job opportunities for people. According to the National Christmas Tree Association over 100,000 people get employed in farm and growing jobs, retail and sales jobs and a lot more types of jobs.

Some cons of getting a real Christmas tree are that at 85% of the farms where Christmas trees are grown, some farmers might use pesticides on the trees they sell which can cause health risks to humans.

Another con of getting a real Christmas tree are the pines on the tree, when they start to fall more and more come down with them and they are just a real hassle to clean them up all the time.

Now some pros about fake trees, one of the many reasons people buy fake trees are because you can use them for multiple years and don’t have to go somewhere every year to buy new ones. Fake trees last about 7-9 years. Another pro about getting a fake Christmas tree is that a lot of them are really easy to set up and they don’t need watering and you don’t need to clean up the pine needles too.

Some cons about fake christmas trees are that fake christmas trees are made with a non bio degradable pvc which means one you dispose of it it can sit in a land fill for centuries. Some more reasons to not get fake Christmas trees are that 85% of fake Christmas trees are made in China which means it makes people lose out on jobs if fake Christmas trees take over the market over real christmas trees.

They are both good ideas to get this winter season so which one will you be buying this year?
