The big question is often debated during these seasonings: what is better, winter or summer? In winter people complain about wanting summer while others complain about wanting winter in summer. In summer, waking up in the mornings can be peaceful with the bright sun and the chirping of birds but also hot. In the winter, waking up in the mornings may be cozy with dark and foggy skies. However in the winter it’s so cold you just want to stay in bed all day taking away your motivation of being productive.
So why are these such a highly debated topic? Why can’t anyone settle for one answer? Well as we know both winter and summer have their pros and cons. In some peoples perspectives the cons for one isn’t as bad to them as the others.
Pros to summer can be the warm air and the ability to go swimming or go on vacations. Winter is also nice in cases like the holidays and rain. It’s all about preference so rather than taking a look at the facts, we look at the opinions. This debate will never be settled for specifically one side. The real question is what side are you taking?
Helen Lee, a student at Benicia High, states, “I prefer summer because in winter I’m just freezing my butt off and the clothing options are much better in summer.” She talks about how winter can sometimes be too cold and take out the motivation she has to do important things.
When she’s cold, she has to wear these big puffy jackets that can seem too stiff. On top of that, most of the winter coats are super expensive! Paying for so many layers and special materials like fleece to keep you warm. She mentions that in summer she has more motivation to get ready and dress the way she loves without spending too much money.
After asking a few other students at Benicia High, a student likes to defer. Abbigail Howard says, “I don’t like the hot heat of summer and having Christmas in winter adds so much joy with spirit! The clothing options are better as well because you can dress cozy and layer outfits together without getting too hot.”
To some people summer is the time for relaxation and fun while winter is stressful because of holidays and school. Others will say it’s the opposite because of other reasons. Summer activities are endless. You can swim, explore, hike, etc. Along with winter having fun activities as well like skiing, playing in snow if you have it, and more. There are reasonable pros and cons to both sides making the topic very debatable and nearly impossible to resolve. So which side are you taking?
