The National Championship is being held on January 19th, it’s a battle between the 10th seed Miami and the number 1 seed Indiana. We’re going to be going over leading up to the game and after the game
Leading up to the game the team we are going to be talking about first are the underdogs Miami. Miami has made it this far in the playoffs by playing complete football.
They’ve had a good offense which has had great efficiency on both the run and pass game with the leading rusher having 88+ carries for 300+ and 4 touchdowns in the playoffs.
Carson Beck has also been playing great for Miami having 509 yards with 4 touchdowns in the air, what has also helped Miami is their defense which has only allowed 8.5 points per game so far in the playoffs.
They have averaged 3.3 sacks per game this year, the leaders of this pass rush are Akeem Mesidor who had 8.5 sacks, and Rueban Bain Jr. who had 7.5 sacks for the season, they also had the 11th best 3rd down stopping percentage in the league with a 30.8%.
The other team we are going to be talking about leading up to the game about are the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers have been great for the last two years going 25-2 the last two years with head coach Curt Cignetti.
Curt changed the program around he didn’t win with 5 star recruits he won with a five star program and pushed all of his players to be the best they can be.
The Hoosiers have had a great season with a great offence and a good defense. The leader of that offence is no other than the Heisman winner Fernado Mendoza, Fernando has had a great season going undefeated in the regular and playoff season so far and now they are going for the 16-0 season which means they have to beat Miami which would be a challenge.
The Hoosiers have had a great season. We can see it from the record and the defence of the team. The defense has had a great year with 46 sacks for the season so far and 19 interceptions to go along with the sacks.
The Hoosiers won the game winning 27-21. The play that changed it all was the Mendoza run where he broke 4 tackles, jumped into the endzone and reached for the touchdown while getting hit by 4 people.
Miami lost the games by penalties and special teams, they had a blocked punt which led to a touchdown putting the Hoosiers in the lead. And they had 7 penalties for 60 yards which made it harder for them to score which is why they were down so much in the game.
The Hoosiers played a great game. They had a good offense and defense where they had stops and they moved the ball well. Special teams also played a big part with a block punt that led to a touchdown putting them up 7 in the third quarter.
They sealed the game with a Mendoza running touchdown which was the highlight of the game to go up by 6 and with a stop on defence and first downs they won the game.
In my opinion I saw the Hoosiers winning this game. Who did y’all think was going to win the game?
