The 4th amendment protects your right to unreasonable search and seizure or essentially your right to privacy.
Linewize is a site that allows the school to spy on your chromebook seeing what you are watching or doing.
Linewize has many abilities: they can close and block tabs, send you private messages or even send photos.
Now you can make the argument that the chromebook is school property and they can look whenever they please to ensure they are doing their work.
This makes the kids feel distrust towards teachers and other official figures. Trust is arguably one of the most important things students need to give their students and Linewize is stunting that.
Benicia High School has a school account for all students. If you were to go on your personal computer at home and log into your school account linewize will work on it.
This is a huge violation of privacy and a danger to kids.
If a kid uses their school account as his personal account teachers could spy on the student as long as they want and for however they want.
Taking in recent events this is a huge liability for Benicia High School the ability to chat and send images off the clock is scary and unreasonable.
It is advertised to parents to also buy linewize and spend money to spy on there kids.
A young student says “other teachers have nothing better to do with their lives and some are lazy bums, there’s no point in having linewize. Why don’t teachers stop being lazy and do real work instead of spying.”
Students are not happy with linewize and it could be a real threat at some point in time.
Is Linewize worth the risk?
