Most of us know of the classic horror movies, which tend to only go on for a couple rounds. A movie or two, but rarely do they make more than 3. Maybe a successful movie will make it to 5, however 7 is very uncommon.
Now, when a franchise gets to the point where there are more than 2 movies, it tends to get super repetitive and often just looks like a poor attempt at a cash grab.
But is that the case for Scream? As someone who decided to just skip the entire series and go straight for the newest one, I feel that the producer did a pretty good job.
For someone with little to no knowledge of what goes on in the previous 6 movies, Scream 7 did an amazing job providing context that a normal person would get if they actually watched the movies in order.
How the director went about producing this movie, with such a realistic vibe and insane plot twists, it was overall a fantastic movie. Even without seeing the others.
I went into the theater thinking that I would end up writing an article about how much this movie sucked and that it was a waste of time and money, but it did not disappoint.
And as someone who does not scare easily, it kept me on my toes, and that was fantastic.
I’m not 100% sure why they choose to release the movie in February of all months, but some are saying that it was because of personal changes with the protagonist. Cambell saying that they, “were supposed to start in September (…) because of some scheduling stuff.”
With that being said, the movie was a really good thriller and kept the watcher guessing.
