Mens Hairstyles 2026

By Daniel Malki Kogut

This article will discuss new mens hairstyles that have evolved in the past few years as well as new popular hairstyles from 2025-2026. Haircuts have changed over the many years, hairstyles have been created and sometimes used as a way to express who someone is. Starting off with the modern buzzcut the buzzcut has evolved way beyond just the basic military hair cut. Elite NFL quarterback Joe Burrow’s icy white blond buzzcut became iconic during the 2025 season.

The newer 2026 version of the buzzcut uses different lengths on different sections of the hair, to create texture, and more dimension. A new trend is bleach buzzes, they started as a summer hair cut and have grown more and more popular ever since, they have also made a great impact on the youth all over as well.  James, a freshman student at Benicia Highschool said, “I got my hair bleached and buzzed last year and I’ve been growing it out slightly for more texture, now I used to just have the tips bleached instead of my whole head.”

A second one is tapers, tapers have also grown from at first an online meme into a classic fade and hairstyle where hair length shortens from the top down to the natural hairline/skin at the neck and ears, many people thought they were going to be a short lived trend but even now the trend is still going strong, I mean even I have one. Mullets are still around. Grace Moinet, another freshman student at Benicia High School states that, “Mullets look okay on some people it just depends.” Which I agree with because they are a classic stereotype soccer haircut for some reason.

Hair has also become a way to express culture and beliefs as well.  Hair can be used to express through cultural connections. One example of that is dreads, people have gotten dreads for a variety of personal, cultural, religious, and practical reasons, from honoring heritage and spiritual beliefs to fashion expression and low maintenance hairstyling. The third and final hairstyle is the refined shag, the modern and refined shag has both choppy, and layered texture, this cut is an oldie but recently surfaced again and has become popular in 2025-2026. Sometimes featuring soft or razored edges, and layers to create volume as well. This cut is often paired with curtain bangs, tapers, or fades for a cleaner, more clean appearance.
