Timothee Chalamet has recently received backlash for making ignorant comments about ballet and opera and instead bragging about Marty Supreme while singing it. Chalamet states that those who purchase tickets for these shows are wasting money.
Recently in an interview he was asked about how his recent movie Marty Supreme is doing. The audience gasps in horror after hearing his shocking response and dance move with an imaginary ping pong paddle.
Actor Timothee Chalamet says ¨Honestly ballet and opera are lame nobody should be purchasing tickets to watch people spin in a circle with music or play instruments in a tux. Instead you art lovers should buy tickets to see my recent film Marty Supreme.¨
He then proceeds to jump up and break into a dance of him acting out swinging at a ping pong ball and singing, ¨Its Marty Supreme Its Marty Supreme Its Marty Supreme!¨
The audience gasps in shock at the Actor who clearly lost himself after getting too used to Hollywood fame. Many fans shared their disappointment and explained their confusion on how he can talk down on other genres of art after coming from a family with a ballerina for a sister and mother. Even attending NYU, a school full of artistic students following their dreams through art programs.
This incident seems to be a quite common issue in Hollywood, without the imaginary ping pong table. Many celebrities now seem to forget the steps they took to get here. After making so much money and becoming successful a lot of them show their true ignorant colors and selfishness. According to Celebertiestoday2026.com, Chalamet only regretted what he said because it would result in Marty Supreme losing money. Clearly showing no true regret.
Chalamet’s comments were unfortunate but not everyone seems surprised. He appears self centered after phenomenal films in the past, movies such as Beautiful Boy, Call me By Your Name, and Bones and All were such enjoyed films that gained Chalamet many supporters after recognizing struggles, raw emotions, and realness in film.
Ballet and Opera are significantly older than movies and are greatly appreciated for creating a path for other art forms revolving around music, singing, dancing, and acting. Although Timothee seems to forget where the influence for movies came from, many of us still appreciate how other forms of art created the beautiful storytelling and visuals in the movies we love today.
