It has been reported that there will be a new class added to the Benicia High School class list. Benicia will now be offering Brainrot 101. This class will be after school, and mainly for parents so they can learn how to understand their children’s new lingo
Brainrot has been popular since 2022. Teenagers have been incorporating it into their own vocabulary and their everyday speech little by little until it has taken over their whole mind. This switch has made it more difficult for parents to understand and communicate with their children.
This is why Benicia High found it reasonable to create a course, Principle Brianna Kleinschmidt says, “Many of the PTA parents have complained about not being able to understand their teens. We found it necessary to add this course.” When asked who is the most qualified teacher to teach this class she says, “This class will be taught by Mr. Rodriguez and will only be taught in the spring semester of school.”
“I have no idea why my daughter keeps yelling “scuba!” at me.” One concerned parent stated, “That’s why I decided to take this class.”
Another parent says, “I have no idea why my son keeps referring to objects or people as “Triple T” or why my daughter keeps referring to herself as Tonka Jahari… I’m so confused.”
Many students have reported that these classes have been beneficial to their parents. Sophomore Lucas Russell’s parents are some of the students in this class and he has seen a difference in how his parents have been communicating with him, he stated, “These classes have taught my parents a lot about media culture and slang. They understand me now!”
Though it’s hard to say what kinds of effects this class will have on the parents, it will take around six to seven years of the classes to have long term effects.
