If you’re thinking about doing tennis, be ready to sacrifice your once normal-lengthed arms. Tennis ruins your body and the mistake of playing the sport is something you can never go back on that no surgery can fix. This article will answer the question of what tennis is really doing to you.
Many students at BHS have reported harm occurring to their body after even just trying out for the school’s tennis team. As for the students on the team they’ve gone through worse, not only do they feel extreme pain but they’ve noticed their arms stretching out increasing in length. Players who’ve lasted the whole season tend to have their arms doubled in length according to the San Francisco Tennis Takers article.
I interviewed tennis player Gabe Mavrik from San Francisco’s team and asked the question “How has tennis affected you since you started playing.”
He replied with “It’s been awful but I can’t quit because I love the sport. My arms have huge stretch marks and have painfully increased to almost double their size.”
An article from Tennis Playing Daily says scientists started looking into the issue as of February 4th, 2026. Their research has found the root of the problem. As tennis players swing their arms forwards the weight of the racket is pulling forward players arms and is causing the extension of their arms.
The article from scientist Bill Fry says “Swinging your arms in tennis causes the extension to them and the force of everyone swinging their arms needs to be decreased.”
With the uprising among tennis players, arm issues new clothing have been designed for them. With long sleeves fitting these players like short sleeves, many clothing brands like Hollister have designed clothes with extra large sleeves.
The ultimate result of this problem is to avoid playing tennis. Though for those who wont stop playing theirs not much that can be done for them and we can only hope for the best. Those who continue to play have tried to get surgery done on their arms but it fails miserably each time. Attempting surgery for the issue leads to death each time.
