Vivo presented at MWC (Mobile World Conference) a concept phone named Apex, which would have a bunch of unique features making it an interesting buy. There isn’t much on the phone but this is what we could find so far. It has a very minimalist all-screen look, so many of the features accommodate for this. For example, the front-facing camera inside the body of the phone can pop up at the top. In .0.8 seconds, there is the 8-megapixel camera that is ready to take selfies. It also can scan fingerprints directly on the screen, and even scan two at the same time. The double fingerprint ability is for extra security. Of control, will it be able to scan prints from two different people then? That would be pretty cool.
It will also have vibrating audio. Vibrating audio is basically sound being made by vibrations. It would do this using OLED panels or organic light-emitting diode panels. “An organic light-emitting diode (OLED) is a light-emitting diode (LED) in which the emissive electroluminescent layer is a film of organic compound that emits light in response to an electric current,” Wikipedia says. So it will be making sound with light for organic materials (which is awesome). Many of these features will be ground-breaking and hopeful inspire more tech innovation in next couple of years.
The rest of the current specs include 6-inch edge-to-edge OLED display with 1.8mm bezel on top and sides and 4.3 mm on the bottom with a 2,160×1,080 pixels screen resolution, on-screen fingerprint reader supports dual fingerprint recognition, dual rear camera and Hi-Fi audio chip creates more room for the battery by consolidating the DAC and three amplifiers into one. This is not the full list of specs and we wouldn’t know until the company does a full release of them.
In the near future, people will be able to buy Apex, with production possibly starting in the middle of 2018. It was never said if the public would ever get to see the phone, but now it is reported to be released as soon as late 2018. This news was announced at a Chinese tech conference by executives of the company and was considered official from Vivo. There is no confirmation as of yet on a specific release date or price.
