In today’s society it is kind of hard to stay positive and hopeful with all of the horrible events everywhere being broadcasted for the whole world to see. It seems that everyday people are dying, starving, homeless, poor, or sick. It feels as if there is no hope for any of us, but that is simply not true. Bad things happen all of the time. If bad things didn’t happen then we wouldn’t know that something was wrong. Bad days make the good days sweeter while, bad times make good times more enjoyable. And the truth is, the world is not as bad as the new media may lead you to believe. There is still a very big number of good human beings living on this planet, such as the people who volunteer to help others and care about other people.
There are many organizations out there whose sole purpose is to spread love around the globe. ‘Letters of Love’ is an organization that helps connect people around the world to share smiles. The program allows you to write a letter to a child refugee in Syrian, Iraqi, Yazidi, Palestinian, and Rohingya. These letters give these children so much hope for a better tomorrow. The company was started in 2015 and has since delivered around 30,000 letters to children in the hope of spreading smiles in other countries and inspiring change makers here in our American classrooms. The children receiving these letters are people who live in war torn countries, they are often times separated from their families and friends and grow up in an unloving and hopeless environment. These children are at high risk of having PTSD from their childhood experiences. When these children are given a Letter of Love they are shown that there are people out there that care about them and are willing to sit down and write them a letter just to brighten their day. These letters keep hope alive for these children.
You too can spread smiles. And it is as easy as writing a letter. All you have to do is go onto the website and follow a few easy steps, then the team will take care of the rest. You only have to provide a picture of you smiling and then write a short message that will be given to the children.
So even though the world may seem that it is the worst it has ever been, have hope and spread hope so that tomorrow can be better than today.
