Shortly after Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing movie ever, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced the next films and TV series that will make up Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic-Con. However, the release dates for many of these movies and shows will likely be delayed as movie theaters across the world are closed in response to the recent global spread of COVID-19.
Here is a list of some upcoming movie for the next 2 years:
- Black Widow
- Venom 2
- The Eternals
- Doctor Strange
- Spider Homecoming 3
- Thor: Love and Thunder
- Black Panther 2
Of the movies, there are a few that really catch the eye. First, Black Panther 2. Recently we have been burdened with the terrible news of Chadwick Boseman’s (the Black Panther’s) death. Fighting with Colon cancer for the past 4 years Chadwick was able to film 7 movies while fighting Cancer. In 2022 we will be blessed to see Chadwick Boseman’s last work in Black Panther 2.
The Second movie that catches the eye is Thor: Love and Thunder. There’s a new Thor in town, and her name is Jane Foster. Natalie Portman announced at San Diego Comic-Con that she will be returning to the franchise to wield Thor’s hammer in the next movie. This gender-flip is not unprecedented: A female Thor took up the mantle in the comics in 2014. Chris Hemsworth will also return, as will Tessa Thompson, who was confirmed again at Comic-Con. This new Thor movie will definitely be very interesting and could be the start of another big superhero in the marvel universe.
Marvel has big standards after the Avengers series came to an end last year. There will be a new era in Marvel and a very interesting one indeed. But with marvel’s movie history I doubt the new movies shall disappoint.
