The Covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone, from parents to teachers, everyone has had to come up with solutions to problems brought up when you’re forced to work from home. Among the most interesting being in the gaming industry. There have been quite a number of creative and smart solutions to game development problems when it comes to working at home. Here are a couple of them.

One big challenge many game developers have had to deal with is the task of voice acting. Since there aren’t really any available recording studios at the moment, voice actors have to get creative. One solution that many have started using is turning their closets into mini recording studios, because of how small space is, they can easily get things recorded.

Another problem is sound design, since you can’t really go out to get certain sounds as easily now, people have to get creative. Bungie, the studio behind the Destiny franchise has come up with some interesting solutions for creating certain sound effects, like using a breast pump as a distant alarm sound effect, and a metal spring rolling down a tube for a sort of cosmic ice sound.

So even though the pandemic has been hard on everyone, a lot of us have come up with inventive ways to help their situations, including the ones you probably wouldn’t think of normally. Maybe when this is all over the same kinds of techniques could be used more.
