Famous artist Neil Young has removed his entire discography from Spotify, following complaints of COVID-19 and vaccine misinformation being spread by their most popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
On January 21, Neil Young posted a now deleted letter to Twitter, wishing for his music to be removed from Spotify after drama involving one of their biggest podcasts, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience‘. Critics have recently panned the show, stating that the podcast spreads misinformation about vaccines and COVID-19.
Several artists have also stated their concerns about the podcast, with singer Joni Mitchell and guitarist Nils Lofgreen also removing their discography from the platform. “We encourage all musicians, artists, and music lovers everywhere, to stand with us all, and cut ties with Spotify.” Says Mitchell.
