Game 6 Klay.
Ever since the 2016 NBA Playoffs, Klay Thompson has made a significant difference in every game 6 of the Golden State Warriors Playoff appearances. Let’s take a look back at his memorable performances.
In 2016, Thompson scored 11 threes to keep the Warriors’ incredible 73-9 regular season record alive. Golden State faced elimination against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but Klay led the team with 41 points to eventually defeat Kevin Durant and the Thunder.
Next, in 2018, the Warriors would then pick up Kevin Durant to their team. Even with this new weapon, Thompson carried the Warriors in game 6 with a huge 35 points and forced a game 7 with the Houston Rockets.
The following year, Klay made crucial performances in not one, but two game sixes. In the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2019 NBA Playoffs, the star scored 27 points and had multiple game changing defensive plays. Even with Kevin Durant hurt, Klay was able to shut out the Rockets. Then, in the next round, Klay Thompson would go off for 30 points even though his team could not pull through past the Toronto Raptors in game 6 of the 2019 Western Conference Finals.
Finally, this past Friday, Klay added to his legacy. The Warrior erupted for 30 points and hit the dagger three to lead Golden State 110-96 over the Memphis Grizzlies. This was the first ever game 6 back for Klay Thompson since his ACL injury and he crushed it.
