Last month, videos went viral of different assaults on street vendors in San Jose. A video captured by a witness showed a vender named Sal Reconco being attacked and knocked unconscious. Another video showed street vendor, Carlos Sanchez, being threatened by a man with a baseball bat. In support of these attacks, people put together a cookout for the individuals who were targeted. Both Reconco and Sanchez will be serving food where Sanchez was attacked. Reconco said he wanted people to “know that we are street vendors, and we deserve respect.” San Jose police have since arrested the man who attacked Sanchez, Kintex Ho, 43, and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon and carjacking following the attack that happened around 10:40 a.m. that Saturday.
