After being pulled over on accounts of speeding, one man from Colorado attempted to switch seats with his dog to avoid arrest. When confronted by a police officer suspecting him of driving under the influence, the man tried to convince them that his dog was driving him home.

According to the officer, the man displayed clear signs of intoxication.

“The driver attempted to switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat, as the SPD officer approached and watched the entire process,” a Facebook post by the local police department said. “The male party then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving.”

Upon being asked if he had been drinking, the man ran away from the officer and managed to make it about 20 yards before promptly being arrested.

The man was then taken to the hospital. After being medically cleared, he was taken to the county jail on charges including driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, and resisting arrest.

After being apprehended, the driver’s canine accomplice was given to a friend. According to the police department, “the dog does not face any charges and was let go with just a warning”.
