It’s Dame Time in Milwaukee

By Beau Cline

Shocking news has just surfaced that generational talent Damion Lilard is leaving the West Coast to team up with MVP Giannis Antentkumpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Damion Lilard has been the key player for the Portland Trail Blazers for the last 11 years of his career, building up an impressive resume. His career started with a boom as he was unanimously voted rookie of the year and developed his infamous nickname “Dame Time” after making several clutch shots that season. This was just the start of his greatness; over the next 10 seasons he was nominated for seven NBA All-Star games and seven All-NBA team selections becoming the first Trail Blazer and only trailblazer to accumulate this many achievements. He’s also an olympic gold medalist winning the 2020 Tokyo summer olympic Basketball series cementing his legacy as an American. The NBA decided to cement his legacy the following year in 2021 when Damion made the NBA’s 75th anniversary team alongside some of the greatest to ever play.

Now that you know a little more about this generational player let’s look into the trade details following this massive three team trade including the Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, and Milwaukee Bucks. To acquire a player of this magnitude the Bucks had to offer up some serious player capital, losing star point guard Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, and first round picks in 2028, 2029, and 2030. The Trail Blazers gave up their best players Damion Lilard, Keon Johnson, Nassir Little, and Jusuf Nurkic. The Suns got involved by trading Deandre Ayton, and Toumani Camara. This became one of the NBA’s largest trades for 1 player, truly showing the importance of Damion Lilard.
