For the first time in In-N-Out’s 75 year long history they have been forced to close one of their locations.
The In-N-Out located in Oakland, CA has been forced to shut down due to an increase of violent crime and theft in the area. The closing will be happening on the 24th of March and the company told FOX Business that there have been regular occurrences of car break-ins, theft, property damage and armed robberies of customers and employees which led to their decision of closing.
“We feel the frequency and severity of the crimes being encountered by our Customers and Associates leave us no alternative,” Denny Warnick, the chief operating officer at In-N-Out, said in a statement.
Juliana Veleaquez was an employee at the In-N-Out while she was working. Some thieves ransacked her car, “They broke the windows on both passenger sides,” she told the San Francisco Chronicle.
The only Denny’s located in Oakland has also been permanently closed due to the same reason; the rapid increase of crime in the city. Denny’s corporate released a statement Thursday morning saying:
“Denny’s has been honored to serve the Oakland community over the last 54 years. Closing a restaurant location is never an easy decision or one taken lightly. However, the safety and well-being of Denny’s team members and valued guests is our top priority. Weighing those factors, the decision has been made to close this location.”
They also said,
“Denny’s offers its heartfelt thanks to the team members and the local community for their love of the Denny’s brand; it has been a pleasure serving you. Team members who are able to relocate will be offered positions elsewhere, where available.”
These aren’t the only things that have left the city of Oakland for example, their sports teams the Oakland A’s and the Oakland Raiders both have made the move to Las Vegas.
