BHS Basketball Season So Far

By Yaseen Jangikhan

As the season progresses the BHS basketball team is sitting at 17-7. Benicia is  currently ranked 3rd in the diablo valley standings and the future is bright with playoff hopes upon us. Benicia got the win tonight over Ygnacio Valley the score was 66-56. Ygnacio Valley is second in standings in the league and this was a great win for the Panthers as it shows they can beat the big teams which marks a good sign for the playoffs. BHS is doing very well in points with the most points scored in the league which shows the offense has good capability to play.

With only 2 games left a statement needs to be made to show the Panthers is not to be messed with. The next game will be against Clayton-Valley on January 31 and they are currently ranked 4 in the league. If BHS takes them down another big achievement will be made as they are battling a top 5 competitor in the league. The last game of the season will be against Vanden. Vanden is coming off a huge blowout game against Armijo and they were the winners so they have momentum to lead up to this game. However, Benicia will make a statement out of them.

There is talent all around on the BHS Varsity team. The top scorer currently right now is Jackdan averaging 14 PPG and he is the athletic Greek freak for the team. BHS get’s a ton of rebounds because of the efficiency from Ayden Thompson. Ayden is currently averaging 8 rebounds a game. Brandon is the most efficient when it comes to getting assists, he averages around 4 assists per game. After interviewing Jackdan Eyike his favorite moment of the season, so far is when he got his first dunk against Vallejo and BHS ended up winning that 71-67, which is a very close game.
