The Teachers That Made Senior Year Amazing

By: Comet Ziemer

With my senior year coming to a close, it is time that I sit down and think back to all of the teachers I had this year. And when I think about these teachers, I remember all the things they did for me this senior year to make my life easier. So I decided to compile a list of all the teachers that made my senior year better, either just by their behavior or the way they taught.

  1. Ms. Martin

I want to start this list with the teacher that I have worked with since I was a junior, who has become a very nice part of my daily schedule for the past couple of years. Ms. Martin is someone who is not only a really nice teacher, but a genuinely really kind person. She is someone that I find very easy to talk to, and I find a lot of interest in the things she teaches about. The way she teaches allows for a lot of flexibility with how you do your work, and she is very straightforward about whatever might be needed from students. She is also very accommodating to students’ needs. As someone who has a lot of after school activities, I am often really exhausted when I get home, and I tend to value my sleep over getting work done. Ms. Martin is a really understanding person and only requires communication if you need to turn something in late. I have had many long talks with Ms. Martin about my future, and she always sits down to listen to me. Ms. Martin, thank you for all the work you put into teaching your seniors!

  1. Mrs. Morgan (The History Teacher)

Economics is one of the classes that seniors are required to take. It becomes a very challenging class for many students due to the curriculum it comes with. I was really worried walking into economics this year, but all of my worries were put to ease thanks to Mrs. Morgan. With the way she teaches, she made a subject I was really scared about incredibly easy to learn. Mrs. Morgan supplies students with multiple different resources to make sure that they are successful. She is also very open to a lot of communication, so she is always there for you if you ever need help with understanding something. Every time I am in her class, she treats us all as equals, and actively communicates with us on what is to be expected in her class. I have never felt more prepared for subjects than I have with her. So thank you, Mrs. Morgan, for everything that you do to make sure we succeed.

  1. Mr. Greenwood

Mr. Greenwood is someone that provides a very entertaining and challenging environment for the seniors he teaches. Creative Writing is one of the more popular electives that seniors have had the option to take. As someone who took Creative Writing this year, I have found the class to be a really nice challenge for me this year. It allows me to actively stretch the skills that I have been working on since I was a freshman, and the overall environment in his class is very friendly and down to earth. Besides being an awesome teacher, Mr. Greenwood is also just a really nice person to talk to. He has a lot of interests and opinions that he loves sharing with students, and he is a very relatable and easy person to talk to. His classes allow for a lot of control over assignments and what a student wants to do. Mr. Greenwood, your unique personality has not gone unnoticed, and you have given me many well needed laughs during this stressful year.

This list could go on forever, as each student has different things they like about teachers. For me, these were some of the teachers that I looked forward to every day. I knew that they worked to make my senior year better, and I will miss them greatly when I graduate.
