49ers 53 Man Roster Predictions

By Jacob Bugarin

As the football season is coming to a start, many players around the NFL are trying to make the 53 man roster by showing their skills in the pre-season. Usually we see rookies or players who are trying to steal a spot in a 53 man roster. The 49ers this season have played two pre-season games. There are many stars, hidden gems, and people who may not even make the roster. Otherwise, this is my prediction of who will be making the 49ers 2024-2025 team.

Quarterbacks (3): Brock Purdy, Joshua Dobbs, Tanner Mordecai

I don’t think Brandon Allen is going to make it at all. I do think Joshua Dobbs will be a serviceable backup if Purdy gets hurt this season. Better than having Sam Darnold at quarterback if Brock Purdy ever got hurt.

Running backs (5): Christian McCaffery, Jordan Mason, Elijah Mitchell, Issac Guerendo, and Kyle Juszczyk.

If you’re wondering where the undrafted Cody Schrender is going, most likely in the practice squad due to him having a non productive pre-season right now. I do think Jordan Mason should take the RB2 and get some touches this year. Matt Bredia and the other signed running backs would go to the practice squad or be cut.

Wide Receivers (6): Brandon Aiyuk (if not traded), Deebo Samuel Sr, Jauan Jenngings, Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing, Chris Conley

This receiving core is very stacked and I do believe that Chris Conley and Jacob Cowing have been showing out during this pre season. Then, Ronnie Bell and Trent Taylor will go on the practice squad or be used for special teams. Danny Gray, who hasn’t done really anything since he was drafted, would probably get cut.

Offensive Line (9): Trent Willaims, Aaron Banks, Jake Brendel, Dominick Puni, Colton McKivitz, Jaylon Moore, Spencer Burford, Jon Feliciano, and Jarret Kingston

The offensive line is probably going to look different due to Feliciano being on injured reserve. So, the offensive will be a big part of this team due to it being one of the weakest points of the season last year.

Defensive Line (8): Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave, Maliek Collins, Leonard Floyd, Yetur Gross-Matos, Jordan Elliott, Alex Barret, and Kevin Givens

To be honest, the defensive line for the 49ers has always been the strongest, but I do hope that we get more pressure this year and are able to stuff the run. Losing Arik Armstead is going to be a loss since he was one of the veterans on the team, now this D-line will need to step up.

Linebacker (6): Fred Warner, De’vondre Campbell, Dee Winters, Curtis Robinson, Jalen Graham, and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles.

We will probably wait until Dre Greenlaw returns, but coming back from an achilles injury, these linebackers will need to step up to fill in for one of the best linebackers in the league.

Cornerbacks (5): Charvarius Ward, Deommodore Lenoir, Renardo Green, Darrel Luter, and Issac Yiadom

This is the deepest depth we have and probably one of our strongest position groups that I am excited to watch.

Safeties (4): Jiyar Brown, Talanoa Hufanga, George Odum, Malik Mustapha

Depending on how Hufanaga comes back, Malik Mustapaha may be the one who’s going to replace the veteran Tashaun Gipson Sr. If Hufanga comes back to his all-pro form, this will be one of the best safety duos in the league.

Special Teams: Jake Moody, Taybor Pepper, and Mitch Wishnowsky

Mitch Wishnowsky is probably going to make it. Even though he is on injured reserve, he will make it due to him being a veteran on the team. But, Pressley Harvin, who the 49ers recently chose to kick in the preseason, has been showing off his leg by giving the 49ers special teams really good field position.
