There are many different ways people express their thoughts and feelings. This could be through mediums such as talking to a friend, conversing with a family member, or using art forms like drawing and music. Another popular way to release your thoughts is through journaling. Journaling is also a hobby, and like a lot of hobbies, there can be benefits involved.

There are many different benefits to journaling, such as reducing stress and anxiety, improving memory, enhancing creativity, increased emotional intelligence, encouraging self-confidence, boosting mood, self awareness, and much more. According to Jeremy Sutton from positivephyscology.com, “Keeping a record of personal thoughts and feelings is particularly helpful in supporting mental health.” This shows that by journaling your thoughts, you can significantly improve your mental health. Sutton also states, “Accepting our feelings is linked to better physiological health and positive therapeutic outcomes, including improved moods and reduced anxiety.” Journaling can help one process and accept their feelings, linking back to improved mental health.

While journaling has a lot of physiological health benefits, it can also positively impact physical health. Your stress levels can be lowered from journaling, improving your immune function and lower the chances of chronic illness. Another physical benefit journaling can have is improved sleep. Journaling before bed can be calming, which leads to a higher quality night of sleep.

Overall, there are so many benefits that journaling can have. It’s a great hobby to have that not only provides entertainment, but many physical, emotional, and physiological benefits.
