Hannah Much from “Rough Draft Atlanta” says that the “Cowboy Carter Tour” was, “Easily the best concert she’s ever attended.” Many artists have been on tour this year, but which one produced the most money for the performers?
Coming in on number 3 is Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Grand National Tour”. Their tour grossed 254.6 million dollars. On this tour they performed songs from Kendrick’s GNX album and SZA’s album LANA. They started their North America stretch of the tour in Minneapolis and finished in Maryland.
Kendrick and SZA brought out many guest performers for the tour. Playboi Carti joined them to perform “GOOD CREDIT” at the Atlanta show. Baby Keem and Kaytranada performed Family Ties with Kendrick and SZA in New Jersey. Lizzo and Justin Bieber were brought on the stage in their L.A. shows, performing remixes of Special and Snooze
Number 2 is Beyoncé on her Cowboy Carter Tour. Although Beyoncé only performed in nine cities, her tour surpassed 400 million dollars in gross revenue. These nine cities included Paris, London, New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Houston.
During her tour, her two daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi joined her on stage. Blue Ivy joined her mother on stage in multiple shows dancing along with the background dancers, while Rumi was also brought on stage a few times during the performance of Beyoncé’s song “Protector.”
Staying on the topic of her family, Jay-Z joined Beyoncé on the stage in her final show of the Paris stretch . Together they performed songs such as “Crazy in Love” and “Drunk in Love.”
The second, and last artist Beyoncé pulled onto the stage with her during her tour was Miley Cyrus in Paris. Together Miley and Beyoncé performed the song “II Most Wanted.”
In first place for the highest concert gross revenue is Coldplay. On their “Music of the Spheres World Tour” Coldplay’s gross revenue surpassed 1 billion dollars. Throughout their whole tour they played in 80 cities. Their U.S. leg of the tour included shows in California, Las Vegas, Denver, Texas, Boston, Wisconsin, Nashville, Miami, and Ontario.
Although their North America leg of the tour has ended, their tour is still going strong in the United Kingdom. During their U.S. shows, Coldplay had some special moments. This included playing four fan requested songs from the audience. Another was during the Boston show where they asked all of the guests to turn off their phones and their LED wrist bands lit up and the crowd started swaying as one.
Looking back at all of the tours that have gone through the world so far in these past few months have left many people excited for what’s to come in the upcoming year. If you haven’t heard of these artists you should definitely take the time to check them out!
