Over the years of my life, I’ve tried many different foods however, avocado toast is definitely one of my favorites. And I have tried to find the best place locally to get some overpriced avocado toast, but I’m stuck between 2 cafe’s which are both located in Downtown Benicia!
First off, Majestic Cafe which has been changed form Farm and Flour when it first opened, to States Cafe, and is now Majestic Cafe. When it first opened, I tried their avocado toast and was immediately impressed. Their bread which is on rustic sourdough, as well as their thick avocado topping and feta cheese with everything seasoning. And you can get all of this for a whopping 11 dollars.
Majestic Cafe also has other types of toast including everything toast and hummus toast if you like savory over sweet. Or almond butter as well as your choice of jam or honey if you like sweet over savory.
On the other hand we have Drift Cafe which is located farther down First Street. Their avocado toast comes on rosemary focaccia bread, avocado, cherry tomatoes, everything seasoning, tajin, and lime, which comes out to a total of 14 dollars!
However, Drift has a bigger menu with more options like pizza (also on focaccia bread), breakfast sandwiches, and a huge choice of different coffee’s and tea’s.
Kaia Salvia a freshman in Benicia High says, “I like both of them, but I like Majestic Cafe better because the bread is way thicker, there is more cheese on the top, and so much avocado. I also think Drift is kind of on the pricey side”
Based on the interior, Drift definitely has a smaller interior, but it is still super nice and homey inside. Majestic Cafe is much bigger inside with more of a “boho” design.
Overall, both cafes have their own unique menus and styles, and have their pros and cons. But both businesses have been there for a while and seem to be doing really well! Support our small businesses in Benicia!
