As 2026 continues, the November Midterms have been highly anticipated by everyone in the nation. Multiple news stations have been covering the big and small details, while also outlining how the midterms outcome will turnout. This comes at a time where the current president, as of September 29, 2026 is deeply unpopular with the nation and his own base. These giant changes in approval form from 2024 have caused mass panic within the GOP, with President Trump attempting to sponsor other Republicans that back him across the nation. These attempts have been met with varying success as seen below.
In the upcoming midterms across the country, there are around 12 battle ground states. What this means is that these states have a chance to flip from what they were during the 2024 election. This causes both parties to increase the amount of spending in these states to get their chosen candidates to win. But one caveat is that most of these states all had a major decrease in the approval of President Trump’s actions.
This, in return, affects the campaigning of any Republican, mostly due to endorsements by Trump hindering campaigns instead of accelerating them. This factor has made ideas like the concept of Texas electing a democrat senator. This comes as the race between Tallarico and Paxton is actually competitive. This example of republicans being neck to neck in other states with democrats.
One bamboozling story that comes from Alaska is about two Dans. This all starts with the Alaska Senate race, in which a Democrat by the name of Mary Peltola, is running against the Republican candidate, Daniel S. Sullivan. Usually, it would not be an abnormal race with democrat and republican candidates facing each other. But this year’s midterms have switched some things up with an independent republican throwing his name in the ballot (who is not backed by Trump). This man’s name is Daniel J. Sullivan. These two similar names have caused some frustration from the GOP. With Claims of the GOP trying to get Daniel J. Sullivan changed his name on the ballot under the guise that this was for a gimmick and that he had no real motivation to run. Yet after an investigation, it turns out not only that Daniel J. Sullivan is his real name, but he also genuinely wanted to run for the senate to try and benefit his community. Even though the odds that Dan j will win are low, it is a hilarious situation to find in an election.
Another big proponent of this election that makes it unique is the other battle happening throughout the country. This being the war against dark money and transparent campaigns. Dark money in this context is not tinted cash but rather money coming from anonymous non profits linked to giant corporations. Dark money also includes foreign money like AIPAC from Israel. The reason why this battle is important is because over the last couple of years more politicians have been taking money from corporations and AIPAC. This has caused the American people to feel like the government is not ruled by the people but by people who spend more. This sentiment has been used by politicians like Abdul El Sayed (democrat running for senate in michigan) by showing themselves as people not taking Dark money while running a completely financially transparent campaign.
For this upcoming election it is very important to understand not only the big political developments but also understand the emotions of the people. Over the last 2 years Trump’s aproveal rating has shot down with an average of 37% to 39% aproval rating across the country that’s littaraly almost ⅔ of Americans who do not support him. This massive lack of support has doomed any real Republican gains within the senate and house. Due to this popularity plummet it is projected that the democratic party will gain seats in senate and the house. But it’s unsure if those gains will be able to compete with the republican supremacy currently in the government.
Due to the president’s current low popularity it has caused the current president to make some interesting decisions regarding this upcoming election. One of these decisions would be to state that if the GOP wins this midterm election he will personally promise every adult to get $5,000 if they win. This has been seen as an illegal attempt to buy votes which has caused more controversial and unpopular opinions about the president. Another decision the president has made was to make his own version of the pledge of allegiance for the upcoming election. One of the parts of this speech states that he is going to try and cheat like hell for the upcoming midterms. This line in itself was obviously very unpopular. And later closes that same speech by stating “We will defeat the communists. We will reject, and that’s what they are. They’re not socialists. They’re not Democrats. They’re communists. We will reject these radical left lunatics. We will demolish the extremist, fanatics, lunatics and criminals who want to destroy our country. They want to destroy the country.” As the current president did in the speech he has done before with stating the democratic parties cheated their way through the 2020 election via the mail in ballot system. This lie that the election was rigged and that the democrat party was trying to steal the election would later cause the events that took place on January 6th. All of this to say it is not the first time the current president has claimed an upcoming election is rigged.
