BHS Boys Basketball Falls Short in Pre-Season Match Up

Benicia , CA– The BHS boys basketball team fell short Tuesday night following their matchup with Will C Wood.

Will C Wood (12-2) routed Benicia (9-5) at home to end their 3 game winning streak.

This pre-season match up was highly anticipated by both teams. The win by Wood is just a part of the success they’ve been having this season.

Both teams came out on fire with a neck and neck game all the way to halftime. The score at halftime favored Benicia by just 3 points , 31-28.

After halftime, Wood’s offensive and rebounding attack was too much for the Panthers to handle. Wood went on to out-rebound the panthers by at least 10 and win the game by 15 in an easy win.

Wood had lots of young players who played the similar Panthers very well.

Benicia guards Peter Koenen & Trey Pugh expressed their team’s lack of heart following the loss.

“It comes down to the heart when it comes to rebounds,” says Trey Pugh when asked about his team’s adjustments for the rest of the season.

Koenen adds in, “If we give up that many offensive rebounds a game, we’re going to have a long season.”

Both teams should have interesting endings to their seasons as they both are trying to make the playoffs this year after not making it last year.
