On Monday, November 6, just after school ended, a high school student in Concord was shot and killed. Police stated that “shots were fired near Olympic High School around 1:32 p.m.” and “at around 4 p.m., the student was pronounced dead.”
Local authorities revealed to KRON 4 that “a senior male at the school was shot shortly after classes let out for the day.” According to police officials, the shooter drove a black Saturn with scratches. As he got out of the vehicle, he approached a group of people around the corner of Salvio Street and Beach Street and immediately shot at one person.
The victim of the shooting returned to campus, where he was treated and later taken to the hospital, while the others scrambled for safety. Friends have identified the victim as 17-year-old Lawrence Janson and described the suspect as possibly a Hispanic man, age 20 to 25, carrying a black gun.
If you were a witness to the shooting and have not been contacted by a CPD officer, please contact the Concord Police Department at 925-671-3333.
