As we head into a new season, it’s time to get your closet ready! These fall trends look a little different from previous years. No more scarves, boots, and earthy tones; right now, it’s all about creativity, colors, and comfort; and of course, accessories, especially your mask! You might have even seen some of these trends pop up on your TikTok “For You page” already; it’s now time for them to pop up in your closet.
Patchwork Denim
We’ve seen numerous trends come back from previous decades. Such as scrunchies, mom jeans, and bell bottoms. Now it’s time for patchwork denim to hit your feed again. This trend first made a splash in the 60s and 70s. You might be able to find pictures of your grandparents or parents sporting the stitched together denim. Now it’s time for you to try it out! Many clothing stores, such as Urban Outfitters, PacSun, ASOS, and more, have begun to put this back on the shelves. Products range from jeans, skirts, jackets, hats, and even pillowcases. Unfortunately, this trend does not come cheap. The average price for a pair of patchworked jeans is around $60. Although there is some good news, if sewing is a hobby of yours, you can try out the trend yourself. A few loose pieces of denim, and you can make your very own bucket hat. Needless to say, this is a trend that should always be in style.
Monochrome Sets
Monochrome outfits have always been around, but they recently have been showing up more often. These outfits have infinite ways to style them. A large sweatshirt and baggy sweats, or a tight crop top with wide-leg pants. There are endless possibilities when it comes to monochrome. All you need are pieces that are the same color. Colors can range from black, purple, green, pink, and every other color imaginable. Don’t be afraid to throw some neon into the mix; if done correctly, it can pull an outfit together. If you don’t already have items that are the same color, almost every clothing store has colorful pieces to pair. Since you can buy pieces anywhere, the price for the outfits can be as cheap or as expensive as you want. These versatile outfits are always eye-catching and stylish.
Faux Leather
Faux leather has been around forever and is a staple piece. With that being said, it’s all about how you pair the leather with the rest of the outfit. Neutral colors go a long way here. An all-black outfit or white top with blue jeans always looks great. Pairing with a heel or sneaker adds a bit of flair as well. Leather jackets look great cropped or oversized, so play around with it. As for pants, you should go for a tighter fit. When looking for leather to add to your closet, I recommend shopping faux leather. It is more sustainable and ethical. It is also easier on the pocketbook. If you decide to go with real leather, prices can range from around $300-$1,000. They can even go higher than that, depending on the brand. Some brands that sell leather apparel are AllSaints, Nordstrom, and Saint Lauren. When shopping for faux leather, prices are in the $100 area. Stores that carry faux leather are Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Topshop. You will look like a boss in this classic outfit.
Collared Shirts & Tennis Skirts
One item that has blown up recently is tennis skirts. It took the fashionistas of the world no time to pair it with a cute collared shirt and pullover. I am confident that this will be the next big trend. The all-white skirts look great on every skin tone. The pullover/collared shirt combo allows for warmth as the days cool down. Then, just toss on some chunky shoes, and you are ready to strut to the grocery store. Since this is a newer trend, you might not know exactly where to find these pieces. No need to panic, I have got you covered. You can find tennis skirts at stores like Dicks Sporting Goods, Kohls, and Nike. Prices are usually around $40. Collared shirts can be found at Target, Urban Outfitters, and Zara. Prices vary depending on the quality of the shirt. To finish the outfit, just throw on a relaxed crewneck. This is a chic and comfortable fit that looks great for any occasion.
Accessories
No outfit is ever complete without accessories! These small pieces have a big impact on your outfit. The first accessory we are going to cover is jewelry. Dress up an outfit with lots of rings, layered necklaces, eccentric earrings, and loose bracelets. Fake or real jewelry; it does not matter. If you’re confident, you’ll shine like a diamond. The next accessory is a hair claw. You might have seen your mom or aunts with this hairstyle. Now it’s time for you to try it out. Twist your hair, pull it up, and clip! This is always a clean and classy look. Adding onto the accessories, small shoulder bags are back ladies, gents, and non-binary babes. They come in all sorts of colors and prints. These bags help take your outfit one step further. Finally, one accessory everyone should be wearing is a mask! I’m not going to preach to the choir, but I highly recommend them. Masks come in every print and color you can imagine. But, remember that no matter what you wear, if you feel good, you will always look beautiful.
