The new year is starting off with quite a bit of excitement for new music. Some of it is coming out in a few weeks or less. Here are three albums coming out this month that you should definitely keep an eye out for. They are going to be big!
- Jethro Tull – The Zealot Gene
British prog-rock legends are set to release their first album of new material in over 18 years!
The album will include 12 tracks, one of which has already been released, and is titled “Shoshana Sleeping”. It will be released on January 28th, 2022.
Bandleader, Ian Anderson, reveals that the record had started forming as early as 2017 as he came up with themes and lyrical content for the album that is derived directly from the Bible. This album will no doubt have some amazing British progressive rock and serve as an amazing comeback for the band.
- Aaron Lewis – Frayed At Both Ends
Best known as the singer and main writer (alongside guitarist Mike Mushok) for the hard rock band: Staind. Aaron Lewis began to pursue a solo country career back during the recording of Staind’s final self titled album in 2011. Since then, he has released several albums all boasting his introspective and emotional writing style, packaged in a unique brand of country music. Now the singer is set to release the next chapter of his solo discography on January 28th, 2022. Lewis has been the subject of quite a bit of controversy in recent months due to his very outspoken political views and activism, often starting chants at his concerts. As well as releasing a song titled “Am I The Only One” that deals with many popular issues and political events. Aaron Lewis’ new album will very likely feature him telling it how he sees it and singing exactly what he feels.
- Steve Vai – Inviolate
The vicious virtuoso is back and ready to make you dance, cry, and headbang all at once. Vai is set to release his newest album in his almost 40 year long career. The album itself was recorded entirely on one hollowbody guitar and will no doubt showcase Vai expanding the musical boundaries and redefining what is possible in music. This album will be available to buy on CD or digitally on January 28th, 2022.
There are also other awesome albums set to release this month but these are, in my opinion, the most exciting and potentially groundbreaking albums that you should really pay attention to.
