Albums to look out for in February 2022

By: Caleb Rippee

February is now upon us! And with the new month comes new albums to look forward to. I will be picking three that I think will be the most interesting, potentially groundbreaking albums that will be released this month!

Zeal and Ardor – Zeal and Ardor

Possibly one of the most overlooked bands of the last few years. Zeal and Ardor has been gaining diehard loyal fans by playing a unique blend of African spirituals, electronic, and black metal. This odd, but effective mix, has given the band a truly one of a kind flavor that sets them apart from other bands. I actually got to see them open for Opeth and Mastodon back in December of last year and they were amazing! Their onstage energy was infectious and they played the songs BETTER live than the recorded versions. Absolutely a must see band if they are ever touring around here again. Regardless of whether you go and see them live. Their new album is going to be packed with amazing songwriting and high energy songs. It will be available to listen to on February 11th.

(I got a great view right in front of the stage!)

Korn – Requiem

The classic 90’s and 2000’s band is returned with another album released February 4th. They have released a video for their single “Start The Healing” as well as a second single titled: “Forgotten”

The album is their 14th studio album and will also be produced by Chris Collier, who has produced albums for bands such as Whitesnake, Metal Church, Winds of Plague, and of course, Korn. The band’s bassist, Fieldy is on an official hiatus but it has been confirmed that his bass tracks will be used in the album. This album will no doubt feature some more heavy riffs and Johnathon Davis’ signature singing.

Tears for Fears – The Tipping Point

Well I guess it’s the year of returns. Last month we covered Jethro Tull’s first album in a long time. Now it appears that we have another classic group that has decided to make some new music. Famous pop rock band, Tears for Fears. Will be releasing their first album in over 18 years on February 25th. The song “The Tipping Point” was released back in October of 2021 along with a music video that you can watch right now.

There you have it, three albums for the month of February!
