McDonalds and Burger King have been rivals for a while. The two fast food chains are popular for foods such as their burgers and fries. But, instead of comparing the Whoppers and Big Macs, I compared the nuggets and fries.
Just to give a background to how I got to doing this: I was driving home one Wednesday and I decided that I wanted McDonalds fries. But, I needed something to write about in my Journalism class so I decided that I had to compare the McDonalds fries to another fry from a fast food chain. In Benicia, we have Burger King, Jack in the Box, and Carl’s JR that would be suitable for this comparison. But, since Burger King has a known rivalry with McDonalds, I chose to compare their fries. So, the next day after school, my mom took me to the Burger King and McDonalds drive through. Also, I wanted more than just fries, but I didn’t want two burgers so I got nuggets as well.
Burger King
The Burger King in Benicia is located in the popular Raley’s shopping center. When I arrived, there were only three cars in front of me and the process of ordering my food and receiving it was decently quick. As for the food, the hot fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would give them a 7 out of 10. I think that if there was a better seasoning other than just salt on the fries it would be better. The nuggets were not as crispy as they could have been, but they were seasoned well. I would give them an 8 out of 10.
McDonalds
There are two McDonalds in Benicia. There is one on Second Street, and the other is on Columbus Pkwy. For this task, I went to the McDonalds on Columbus Pkwy. Like Burger King, the process of getting my food wasn’t too long at all. Of course, the McDonalds fries came out hot as well. But, the McDonald’s fries are thinner and better flavored. I would give them a 9 out of 10. The nuggets were extremely crispy, but they aren’t nearly as flavorful as the Burger King nuggets. I’ll give the nuggets a 7 out of 10.
Overall
Overall, Burger King has the better nuggets, and McDonalds has the better fries. However, only one of these places can win this battle. After averaging the scores for each of the restaurant’s nuggets and fries, McDonalds won with a total score of 8 out of 10, and Burger King had a losing score of 7.5 out of 10.
