Released on March 4, The Batman received good reviews with Rotten Tomatoes giving the movie an 86% and IMDb giving it an 8.5/10. Batman, played by Robert Pattinson, must figure out a mystery revolving around a serial killer who leaves riddles for Batman to solve. Known as the Riddler by fans, Paul Dano’s performance was excellent in terms of showing a crazed and “genius” killer. Other characters who make an appearance are The Penguin, played by Colin Farell, and Catwoman, played by Zoe Kravitz.
Overall, the movie’s story flows well and despite it being an almost three hour movie, it does a good job of telling the story while not giving too many details. The Riddler’s role was surprising as he wasn’t depicted as a person who’s nerdy due to his amount of knowledge. The acting done by Paul Dano made the character more interesting and fun to learn about. His intro is perfect as he isn’t introduced with background information or something that can make the audience lose interest. “What does a liar do when he’s dead?” is considered the beginning of the mystery by Riddler and the whole movie revolves around Riddler’s next victims, his motivations, and his plan for the City of Gotham.
If you were to ask me, the movie is definitely worth watching. There’s enough storytelling and action to keep the audience interested. All actors play their characters well, my favorite being The Penguin, as his personality fits with what comic fans and DC fans think of him. My only complaint is that the relationship between Catwoman and Batman feels rushed and some things could’ve been done differently, but this doesn’t ruin the movie in the least. To those thinking of watching the movie, I recommend watching it.
