Personal computers are a very powerful and versatile tool, used for all kinds of applications. Because of the quarantine, pc gaming has become a very popular method of gaming. If you’re looking to buy a pc for gaming purposes, then I have a few tips to ensure you have a smoothest purchasing experience.
The first step is to figure out what you want with your PC. Do you enjoy playing the hottest games? Or do you like the old classics? Your tastes can decide how much you need to spend on a PC. Newer games are going to need higher end parts which means the PC is going to be more expensive. Older games don’t require as much processing power, so your total cost is going to be less.
The next step is to actually buy your PC. I personally recommend buying from NZXT, which is a company that specializes in PCs. I bought the Starter PC Plus about 3 years ago, and it’s still working just fine with no issues. You can also buy a PC from Amazon, but those are very unreliable depending on the maker of the PC. Other companies that specialize in PCs are ORIGIN and iBUYPOWER. I personally recommend looking at all their options and picking the best deal depending on what you need or your budget.
Once you’ve bought your PC, you’re going to need the accessories to use with your new PC. The basic necessities are a monitor, a keyboard, a mouse, and something to listen to audio from. As far as monitors go, anything with a 1080 x 1920 resolution and 60hz refresh rate is perfectly fine. Keyboards, mice, and headphones are all up to your preference though. For mice I can recommend the Glorious Model D, it’s a very light mouse that I use which has lasted a long time, and for keyboards I recommend a Ducky 1 2 mini SF if you’re willing to spend a little extra for a high quality keyboard. As far as headphones go, this is all up to preference. I personally use earbuds, but a headset can be much more cost effective because you don’t have to spend extra money on a microphone as most come with one built in.
Above all else, do your own research, and look for what suits you best. Everyone has their own tastes and what I’ve recommended might not suit you best. Regardless, these are my recommendations and tips for getting into gaming on PC’s.
