Disney has recently announced that a one-act version of “Rogers: The Musical” will be coming to Hyperion Theatre in Disney California Adventure. For a limited time in Summer 2023, you can go and watch the musical based on the fan favorite marvel hero Captain America.
“Rogers: The Musical” is a meta, self-parody and was featured in the first episode of “Hawkeye” on Disney+. The musical is based on the life of Steve Rogers, A.K.A the first Captain America, although it also features all of our favorite Avengers. In the Disney+ series, the backstory was that “Rogers: The Musical” was produced at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City, 2024.
In the “Hawkeye” show, all of the Avengers were invited to the musical’s premiere, however, only Hawkeye actually shows up. The Disney+ series only shows one song in the musical, and it’s the show-stopping number called “Save The City”; centered on The Battle of New York from the first Avengers movie.
At last year’s D23 expo, Marvel’s presentation included a full rendition of the “Save the City” song by Marc Shaimon and Scott Wittman. It’s unclear if they’re returning to write more songs for the musical. The teaser video released included a tease of Agent Carter (Peggy), and suggests that Captain America’s roots in World War 2 will be a part of the story.
More details on the story line, music, and debut date will be shared in the future. In the meantime, we can only wait in anticipation for the release of this new musical take of Steve Roger’s life.
