On Monday, March 13th, the drummer for glam rock band Def Leppard, Rick Allen was attacked outside of his Fort Lauderdale hotel. The band had just played a show with Motley Crue the previous night before Allen was attacked.

Reports say that Allen was “violently attacked” by a 19-year-old Ohio native, Edward Max Hartley. According to Loudwire and the Miami news: “Per 7 News Miami, police indicate that Hartley was positioned behind a pillar before running “full speed” toward the 59-year-old drummer and knocking him down. A police report allegedly states Allen “hit his head on the ground causing injury.”

Right after this, a woman attempting to help Allen was attacked as well, reportedly being struck to the ground and dragged out to the sidewalk after attempting to seek refuge in the hotel lobby.

Hartley was later detained, thankfully, and is now being charged with multiple counts of battery and criminal mischief.

Allen is also thankfully okay and Def Leppard will still be playing with Motley Crue for the remainder of their tour.
