Best Fall Activities That Will Get You in the Spooky Mood

By Staff

With Halloween right around the corner we are all looking forward to the fall activities that come along with the October month. Here is a list of fall activities to get you ready for trick or treating and spooky October nights.

Going to a Pumpkin Patch

Taking a trip to your local pumpkin patch is a great way to get ready for fall. Walking through the rows of pumpkins while deciding which one would make the best jack-o’-lantern is a fall staple. Many pumpkin patches also have corn mazes and other fun activities. Some great pumpkin patches to visit in the area are “Cool Patch Pumpkins” in Dixon and “Alameda Point Pumpkin Patch”.

Jack-O’-Lantern Carving

Following your pumpkin patch trip, a great way to spend an October evening is pumpkin carving. Carving a unique and spooky jack-o’-lantern will get you in the Halloween spirit like nothing else. With a plethora of designs your only limit being your imagination, pumpkin carving will not only ignite the fall ambiance, but it will also inspire a level of creativity.

Apple Picking

Another festive fall activity is apple picking. September through October are prime apple picking months and with a variety of orchards in the Bay Area such as “Apple-A-Day Ranch” in Sebastopol or “Apple Hill” in Placerville, this could be an exciting way to spend a weekend(?).

Haunted House

While being chased by people in scary costumes isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, a haunted house is the best way to get ready for Halloween. For those more fearful individuals, even attending Six Flags’ “Fright Fest” could spark that spooky feel of October we all love. While this may not be something available until later in the month, visiting a haunted house will still be a fun and spooky experience for this eerie Halloween season.
