The NFL season has been going by so fast, that we are already at Week 14 and about to go into the playoffs soon. It’s about time people are going to talk about who’s going to be the MVP of the league. In the beginning of the season, many thought it would be Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and even Justin Fields. Now it is a whole different story, we have new players such as Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovaolia, Tyreek Hill, and Christian Mccaffrey. Question is who is going to be the MVP of this season?
As we saw for the past year, usually the MVP has always been in a quarterback’s favor, but this year not that many quarterbacks have been doing well. Two favorites right now are Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy for the quarterbacks. Dak has been throwing for 28 touchdowns and 6 interceptions while beating the Eagles 33-13. The Cowboys have the number one scoring team right now with 32.2 points per game.
Brock Purdy on the other hand has been gettin criticisms about how he’s a system quarterback because he has good players around him. Brock has been playing elite recently against good teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, and Jacksonville Jaguars who are top teams in the NFL. In those games he has beaten them scoring 42 against Dallas, 34 against the Jaguars, and then 42 against the Eagles. Statistically Brock is better than Dak leading in completion percentage, touchdown percentage, yards per attempt, yards per completion, passer rating and QBR.
Wide receiver Tyreek Hill has a case of being the MVP on pace to have 2,000 yards which would be the most receiving yards in a season all time. Right now he has 1,542 yards and 12 touchdowns. Running back for the 49ers Christian McCaffery also has an MVP case due to being the leading rusher in the NFL and is the primary point to the 49ers running. He has 1,117 rushing yards and 52 catches on the year.
I believe that if both quarterbacks continue to do good then Dak or Purdy should be the MVP of the league. If Tyreek Hill gets to 2,000 he should be unanimously MVP. McCaffery would have a low chance right now, but if he somehow balls out, CMC may have a big chance. I think Brock Purdy should be ahead of the MVP race because he has really been impressive a lot and been picking apart defenses with his pinpoint accuracy. Even though this hasn’t been the most impressive year for QB’s, we should definitely take consideration of other positions winning the MVP.
