Everyone likes to get fast food every once and a while, but we all know it’s not the healthiest option. Although, there are some healthier options to get nearby. Fellow Benicia High students have shared their best guesses of which fast food places are the healthiest, James Jouvenot-Sells has said, “Panda express is the healthiest fast food restaurant.” While Dayton Moreno argues, “Burger King is the healthiest fast food restaurant.” But are any of these options seriously good for us? Studies show that in 2011, about 114 million Americans ate fast food everyday. CDS National Center for Health Statistics states, “36.6% of Americans consume fast food a day.” While this is very unhealthy, there could be a lot of healthy fast food options on the menu to pick from.
A healthy fast food restaurant nearby is Chipotle. Chipotle is known to be healthy because of its fresh ingredients, protein, and the option to pick whatever healthy toppings you would like, this makes it healthier as you could do research on the healthiest toppings the restaurant has to offer, and pick those. Another good option nearby is Panera. Panera has many healthy options to choose from on their menu that remain tasty. Some items on the menu with good nutritional values are their “Garden Avo & Egg White Sandwich” This delicious meal has only 340 calories which is about the average amount for a sandwich. It also has 19 grams of protein which can help for building muscle and repairing tissue, compared to regular sandwich options from restaurants, which have 2 grams of protein and are above 400 calories .
There are many options to choose from when getting fast food and not all of them have to be unhealthy. Many people claim that fast food is the worst place to go to eat but there are so many more things that even you could be cooking at home that are actually worse than fast food that include oils and fats that are not good for your body. These things aren’t included in many of the fast food restaurants you think it might be. For example, Chick-Fil-A has a 12 count grilled nugget meal that is only 200 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, and 38 grams of protein, but an avocado has 22 grams of fat and only 4 grams of protein, which you would assume an avocado is healthier than grilled nuggets from a fast food place.
There are so many things to get from the top healthiest fast food restaurants with lots of protein and not many calories. Some of the top restaurants to go to for these things are. 1. Chipotle, 2. Panera, and 3. Chick-Fil-A. These places provide multiple items on the menu for a tasty but still healthy meal that will fill you up and give you energy. Comparing these restaurant items to some of the things you might think are healthy will definitely shock you but overall feel better about letting yourself get fast food and remain healthy.
