How To Make School More Enjoyable

By Laura Dinsdale

School is something that students either love or hate. Regardless, everyone still has to show up putting in their best effort which can be hard or draining. For those who lean towards hating school, it’s important you find ways to make it more enjoyable. There are many tactics and ways to turn your school life from very bad to very good in an instant.

Though it may seem unrelated to liking school, dressing in some of your favorite clothes could improve your productivity involving school.

An article from The Ripple Foundation says, “I have found that wearing clothes that I feel good in increases my self-confidence in school, making me prone to participate and answer questions in class.” Having an outfit you coordinate and make look cute you could also get many compliments which can make you think more positively on your school day.

I asked student Solomon Brown how he makes school more enjoyable for some student insight. He replied with, “I like making an agreement with my parents for them to pay me for good grades. It makes me motivated to get work done due to looking forward to a reward.” Having a reward system like this allows you to be much more productive knowing your hard work leads to you getting something in return.

An article from Career Village talks about how appreciating the good things happening in your day more often could lessen the stress of the bad things occurring. They suggest writing all the good things or accomplishments you go through at school so that you can reflect and realise maybe it’s not as bad as you thought. Having a positive mindset revolving school is key to enjoying it.

If you happen to find school to be boring and easy, maybe trying to accelerate your learning could be the solution. Try taking AP classes to push yourself and see where your limits to your academic life are and how far you can push yourself. Not only is that a benefit of curing your school boredom but as well you could get more credits and look advanced to colleges.

Having aesthetic school supplies is a great way to feel better about school. ‘Thegirlhood’’s blog talks about how this is effective because personalizing your items and making them cute urges you to use them more. Having cute supplies increases productivity and gets more work done than if you have some boring old supplies.

Studying with music is great for times where you need to study but don’t like doing so. It can motivate you to do your work and allow you to work without getting bored. Having some music as a way to keep your mind busy and focused. Starting off with music without lyrics may be a good tactic as lyrics could get distracting.

A great way to keep your head held high during school is to remember your “why”. This idea comes from Connections Academy and they discuss how you need to remember schools are not pointless and aren’t there for no reason. All of the classes you take in high school matter for your future goals, whether that is going to college or trade school, jumping into the workforce, or taking some time to see the world.
