As summer approaches, a lot of people will want to reduce screen time to enjoy their time off. So let’s go over some phone free activities that you can do when you want to reduce your screen time!
A good way to reduce screen time is doing activities outdoors. Benicia High Students: Jacinto Caballero-George and Matias Brule suggest their ways to spend time outside, phone free. Jacinto says “Going to local beaches and community gardens nearby is a great way to spend your time outside.” Matias Brule enjoys hiking, “I suggest going to Mount Diablo for good hiking trails or the California Bride Trail.”
Wellness Center Counselor, Ms. Lynn suggests “Camping by Doran Beach or New Brighton is nice for me because they are both near the ocean with beautiful scenery close to Benicia.”
Now that you now have some outdoor suggestions, here are some indoor phone free activities!
Benicia High School Students: Makayla Honciano and Samuel Carnahan suggest their favorite phone free indoor activities. Makayla says “I like playing card games inside with other people.” Samuel says “I like to carve soft woods into things like spoons or mugs.”
Curriculum support teacher, Ms. Sakamoto suggests “The light-up, shaking Jenga is a really fun game to play, as well as ‘Would You Rather.’ On the more artsy side, drawing is fun for me.” Ceramics teacher, Ms. Chu says “I like spending time with my dogs, which can be indoors or outdoors.”
Now that you have a list of activities, enjoy your summer with a reduced screen time!
