Trump sued the IRS recently for leaking his and many other rich people’s tax information. These leaks weren’t intentional and weren’t caused by any internal failure, they were caused by a single man who stole government tax records.
Charles E. Littlejohn who had been secretly stealing tax information from 2018 to 2019. Which he promptly released it was the information of hundreds of government officials and politicians. Then later in 2020 he stole and released the information of thousands of billionaires.
He exposed the corruption in the IRS and the fact that these billionaires are able to get away without spending a penny in taxes but make more money than all their workers combined. None of these billionaires and politicians have been charged with any form of tax fraud or tax evasion. While Littlejohn. was arrested and pleaded guilty. But that isn’t what this story is about.
The man responsible for the tax leaks was charged and sentenced on January 29, 2024. He is currently serving his 5 year sentence and will have a 5,000 dollar fine and 3 years of supervised release. But Trump decided that that was not enough, he needed to see more justice. He claimed the agencies failed to safeguard his and his company’s confidential tax records.
Which while yes it is true there was a failure there, the problem people have is that Trump is the boss of these people in the IRS. He appointed the head of the IRS and he can fire them at any time. Another problem is that the current head of the IRS is a right extremist who believes that Trump should have as many terms in office as he wants.
So people aren’t mad about the reason he is suing, they’re mad with the fact he holds so much power over the people he is suing. This is very concerning because even if he doesn’t specifically tell them to let him win they still have to worry about him cutting them. So even if you could consider that he said nothing to them there is still pressure from him being their boss. But that is just speculation it could be a completely fair and partisan decision.
Of course we don’t know as the trail records are hidden but you know what isn’t? The end term agreements. Where Trump won 10 billion dollars in damages. And all that money is coming straight from the tax payer dollar. But there is some good news, Trump won’t see even a penny from that settlement.
All that money is going out back to the people. Because Trump is putting together a hand picked council of officials to choose who will be getting the money from this. And they say it will be going to the people who were affected by this data breach. Which was all billionaires, and politicians.
Trump can also remove any official in the council and replace them with someone else at any time he likes. This money is going to be given out to the people who paid for Trump’s Ballroom and allegedly Trump said he would give it out to January 6th rioters.
This is just one of many abuses of power Trump has done while in office. All I have to say is that stuff like this is a problem even if it wasn’t won through corruption. The president did this for the money just like reparation from the tariffs and just like his crypto. This isn’t a government looking out for the people they are looking out for corporations.
