Are People Losing Concert Etiquette?

By Mia Warren

Concerts are a great way to spend free time and enjoy a fun show with friends and family or even making new friends to bond over the music with. Everyone has something in common with one another about their love for music or a certain band or artist and it can be a new way to make friends.

Concerts and other music festivals are a great experience for those who enjoy music and want memories with favorite singers and bands to look back on when you are older. There are unique venues, decorations, sound systems, and lights that make the whole experience even cooler for audiences. But does every audience respect the guests around them?

Concerts have been happening as far back as time even thousands of years ago and are something almost everyone will experience at least once. But a downside to attending many concerts is that the people beside you in the audience could make or break your experience. Many concert goers have experienced annoying people in the crowd that can block your view, push you, sing over the performers, and be intoxicated or using prohibited substances even when there are children and teenagers in the crowd.

Benicia High Student Genesis Ceron shares, “People that scream too loud at concerts during quieter songs can ruin the experience.” This shows that a lot of people at concerts can disrupt concerts even when people are meant to be quieter for certain songs.

Being overly loud can hurt the ears of people around you and mess up videos people want to keep for memories. A good way to remain respectful is think about how you would feel about someone else yelling in your ears.

Although there are some annoying experiences at shows that are bound to happen that might upset you for a moment, you shouldn’t let the small things ruin your entire experience. When attending concerts keep in mind there will always be that one person yelling too loud to get attention, or people bringing in substances at indoor and outdoor concerts that bothers those around them including children and families.
