Fashion has its way circling back around! Today we are seeing clothing pieces that turned into trends coming to light again in 2026. This year everyone is looking back into the 90’s and 2000’s for inspiration, but not just for outfits. But hair too! You can’t go anywhere without catching a girl with a 90’s inspired blowout these days. Clothing we see coming back are jeans, shorts, skirts, capris, track suits, and baby tees. All these styles are popping up in runways, ads and are being blasted all over social media.
Let’s think back to the 90’s. The 90’s had a lot of simple relaxed clothing with pops of color. They had the jean jackets, flannels, bootcut jeans and leather boots kind of style. We can see people wearing these clothing statements everyday now. We see women and men in leather boots and jackets for any special occasion,even in runway shows. Jean jackets have never really left fashion trends, and we can thank Old Navy for them. It’s the simplicity of the outfits that fascinate people to not only take inspiration but also create outfits with these pieces but mix them in with different styles.
The biggest comeback tho is y2k 2000’s. Y2k outfits are flashy, colorful, fun and very different. In this time baby tees, lowrise jeans, bell bottoms, kitten heels, tracksuits and flared pants were the bomb. Every girl had a pair of one of these items. Beyonce was a big influence for some. Her outfits consisted of flashy colors paired with some lowrise denims. This style bloomed within the communities at this time and this is when the trend became set. Today we still see Gen Z wearing fur boots, lowrise jeans, baby tees, and flared pants from brands like pink, babyphat and brandy. Babyphat was a huge brand at this time, which was a tracksuit heaven for women in this era. It’s amazing how Gen Z still takes these pieces and still reinterpret these styles instead of completely changing the vibe to it.
Social media has made it easier for these trends to be seen and followed. Platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok allow users to search for certain inspiration and get pictures or videos of what it is they are looking for. Social media is also great for helping you rediscover old styles and educate yourself on it and take it and become creative to form their own style. Social media is the reason as to why we see these fashion era’s still being seen in 2026.
The return of these fashion trends show how much fashion connects so many different people. Certain clothing can help someone be able to express themselves and when they see someone who dresses the same as them, those people will tend to try and connect with others just like them. Fashion is beautiful to look at, but even better to read up on and see how much of an impact it makes on our world today.
