The city of Benicia is widely known across the Bay Area for its wide variety and diversity of food locations. For years, these local businesses have fueled and provided many citizens of Benicia and beyond with tasty treats and meals. Although there are plenty of great restaurants, I have wondered for years which spot stands out above the rest. What is that one spot that never fails to disappoint? To truly solve this mystery, I have brought together representatives of every grade from Benicia High School to give me information on their favorite restaurants in Benicia.
First, I interviewed Senior Tyler Durand, who came to the conclusion that his favorite restaurant in Benicia is “Got Plate”. According to Durand, “The customer service is great, the ambiance and the attitude towards customers is great.” The people hired at “Got Plate” add to the excellent dining experience. Next, I interviewed Junior Noah Giannoti and Sophomore Dominic Orosco, who both decided that Chicos Taqueria was their favorite local restaurant. Although both claimed that the customer service was super nice and super quick, I also realized that this restaurant has a wide variety of Mexican food choices. Giannoti’s go-to order is three quesa-birria tacos, while Orosco’s go-to is a steak burrito. Not only is there a wide variety of choices, according to Giannoti, the food is fairly priced and affordable.
Finally, Freshman Cameron said Izakaya was his favorite Benicia food spot. Although his opinion was mostly biased towards his culture, he claims the customer service was good, considering the business is family-owned.
After interviewing the four students, I came to the conclusion that the five star restaurants don’t only consist of good food, it comes down to the overall experience. Factors such as Got Plates’s customer service, Chicos Taqueria’s quick serving and low prices, and Izakaya’s family-ran environment all play a big role in creating the best environment for a dining experience. So which restaurant is truly the best? It really comes down to your personal preference of whether you prefer a clean environment, friendly employees, or tasty food.
